A removable partial denture usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a gum tissue-colored plastic plate or base and is connected by a metal framework. The framework has clasps which attach to the remaining teeth in the mouth.
A full denture consists of replacement teeth for an entire arch attached to a gum tissue-colored plastic base or plate which rests on the bony ridge of the upper or lower jaw. Increasingly, both partials and dentures are being seated on implants, which gives the denture much more stability and functionality.
